Putting Interior Design and Feng Shui application Together

To help all of you looking to engage Feng Shui consultants and Interior Designers to work on your home at the same time, I have come up with a list of action items for you to follow STEP BY STEP. Go through the list and this will save you some hassle and prevent waste of time and money when dealing with both parties. This is useful even if you intend to do just minor contracting work as some of the things should be observed carefully from the Feng Shui perspective.

ACTION ITEMS

(A) For properties that are already built

  1. Consult the Feng Shui consultant FIRST
  2. REMEMBER to highlight to the consultant your plans to do renovation
  3. Allow the audit to be completed and do request for a written report. Make sure you understand the content of the report.
  4. Consult the Interior Designer NEXT
  5. Show or explain to them about the Feng Shui audit that was done and provide a copy of the proposed layout by the Feng Shui consultant
  6. The designer should provide the design for the house without changing the layout. Basically, they need to come up with the solutions to fit into the layout.
  7. Unless it is really due to space constraint that a certain layout cannot be accommodated, you then revert back to the Feng Shui consultant and request for alternative options.
  8. At this point, this is where a good relationship between the Interior Designer and Feng Shui consultant will be beneficial as the client will not be caught in between any disputes.
  9. Prior to the start of the renovation, an “Auspicious Date” must be selected to begin the work.
  10. Upon completion of the renovation, another date must be selected again for the move into the place.

(B) For properties that are NOT built yet

For those of you who are luckier where you get to build your home from ground zero, do take note of the following steps:-

  1. Find the Architect and Feng Shui consultant at the same time
  2. Arrange a meeting together to discuss the requirements for the house
  3. Surrounding Feng Shui environment must be assessed at this point to determine the façade or “facing orientation” of the house and location of the main entrance and door.
  4. Architect should take into account point no. 3 which is the most important factor to begin the design
  5. After the first draft, this should be passed on to the Feng Shui consultant for review and proposal for any minor changes on the internal layout.
  6. Upon completion of the drawing, construction work can begin.
  7. Feng Shui consultant must be engaged to select “Auspicious Date” to begin construction.
  8. Subsequently, upon completion, there must be another date selected for moving into the house.

Overall, there’s a lot of coordination and communication work to be carried out throughout the whole project and this can sometimes be frustrating to clients especially if the views between the two differ vastly and no reconciliation can be reached.

In view of these problems, I came up with a “ one stop solution” where clients can get both Interior Design and Feng Shui services at the most reliable, affordable and professional way. Clients can finally be worry free and face less hassle when they know that both parties in their professional view will provide the best solution together.
