Negative Afflictions for Year 2008
With the new year approaching, it's time again to review how the Feng Shui energies will change and affect us in the "Year of the Rat". In this issue, the focus is on the Negative Afflictions for 2008. The topic on the "Most Prosperous Sectors" will be covered in the next issue.
The assessment of these annual Feng Shui energies is based on the "Flying Star" theory and do note that the start of the new year according to the Chinese Solar Calendar is effectively on February 4th 2008. This means that the effects of these negative energies in their respective sectors should NOT be activated with effect from this date. In fact, as a precautionary measure, I would even advise that you do not activate these sectors starting from January 2008.
Below are the different types of negative energies to take note of for next year, the repsective sectors that are affected and also, the recommendations and necessary preventions to bear in mind. These preventions of course, do not require the use of objects according to "Classical Feng Shui" theory, so don't worry about the extra investment you need to set aside.
TYPES OF NEGATIVE ENERGIES
(A) 三煞 (pronounced as San Sha) or "Three Killings"
Under the "Flying Star" theory, San Sha is one of the more fearful type as disturbing the San Sha can bring about negative matters like illness, accidents and injuiry. It would also cause a loss of wealth and in more severe cases, can cause casualties and fatalities. If San Sha is not affected or activated, there are usually no problems.
See below on where "San Sha" is located for next year.
(B) 太岁 (pronounced as Tai Sui) or "Grand Duke"
The Tai Sui under Feng Shui study is different from the one that people talk about under the spiritual practice. If Tai Sui is affected or disturbed, it will cause minor injuiries, loss of wealth and illnesses. If Tai Sui is not disturbed, there are no major worries.

(C) 岁破 (pronounced as Sui Po) or "Year Breaker"
If Sui Po is affected, it will bring about injuries, illnesses and financial losses. If it is not disturbed, there should be no concerns or worries about it.

(D) The #5 Yellow Star
This star is one of the more fearful energies every year as its effects can be detrimental and bring about misfortunes.

PREVENTIONS & PRECAUTIONS
RULE #1 : Througout the 12 months period between February 4th, 2008 to March 3rd, 2009, AVOID any renovations, constructions, hacking, drilling or act that would move or shake the earth in the above sectors where the negative energies reside. As long as there's no disturbance in these sectors, the energies are not activated.
RULE #2 : AVOID facing Tai Sui direction but it's alright to sit in a Tai Sui location which is in the North for 2008. For example, you should not be sitting at the work desk facing North direction but it's alright for you to use a North sector room.
RULE #3 : If your Main Door is FACING Tai Sui direction, try to use another door for entrance if that's an option, especially for landed properties. If not, you can use a screen to block the direct chi coming into the house and also, to redirect the energies. Lastly, if you already own any metal objects like wind chime, you can put that up though the effect is neutralizing it is very minimal.
RULE #4 : In the event any renovations or constructions must be carried in these mentioned sectors above, selecting an auspicious date to carry out these activities is advisable.
RULE #5 : AVOID moving into a new house or constructing a new house that is facing Tai Sui which means North direction next year as you would be up against all odds in areas from financial to health. If you need to, select an auspicious date to move in or to begin construction.
